Volume Controls
Tools Needed:
  • Pencil
  • Keyhole or Drywall saw
  • Phillips screwdriver
  • Small level
  • Fish tape or a coat hanger
  • Wire strippers
  • Gloves
  • Safety goggles
  • Drill
  • 1" Flat bit (if driving through studs ½" or ½" bit for test hole)

Step 1: Decide where you want to place your Volume Control. Use a studfinder to determine where the joists are located.

Step 2: Cut hole for 1-gang J-box. Make sure the J-box you use will accomodate the depth of the HTVC150

Step 3: Install J-box with toggles into the wall.

Step 4: Connect speaker cable to VC. Use wire nuts. Output goes to speakers - Input is from receiver.
(Left channel: white is pos., green is neg.) (Right channel: Red is pos., black is neg.)

Step 5: Put in J-Box and screw in place.

Step 6: Put on wallplate cover and screw in place.

Troubleshooting tip: When volume controls are used on the "A" output and the "B" output of a stereo receiver; if the volume control in one room affects the other room's volume, then the receiver is not capable of driving both rooms at the same time and you should upgrade the system with an HTS4 or HTS6 speaker selector.
